Great article! It reminded me of a story from one of my former design professors. One of his students had to design for a client who wanted a calendar app to track menstruation cycles. He initially went with the color red for the app's UI, but almost all of his test users disliked the color. He thought it made sense, but his users didn't perceive the color red as appropriate for the app. I believe he was a little too focused on the app's usage, and not enough on his users' preferences and potential reactions. This article brings up good points on what to consider when picking colors for branding.
